“Dear PoPville,

Alert: dog kicker in Adams Morgan. This happened to my dog today (Friday) and two other people have messaged saying it’s happened to them on the last two years in the area. We are not sure if it’s the same guy or just lots of shitty people. Also if you could do a shoutout to the store where the guy who came to help me works… I’d really appreciate it. About half dozens guys either passed or just stood there as this guy screamed and poked at me after kicking my dog. The guy from the shop sprinted across the street and stood in between us. The assailant immediately turned tail and left as soon as another man showed up.” (more…)

“In anticipation of Tropical Storm Debby’s impacts on the District, Mayor Muriel Bowser has activated the District’s Emergency Operations Center and Joint Information Center to ensure city services are well-coordinated between District, regional, and federal partners.

The National Weather Service reports Tropical Storm Debby will bring periods of heavy rain and possibly damaging winds to the District beginning the evening of Thursday, August 8 through the evening of Friday, August 9. NWS estimates the District could see anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of rain, downed trees, possible flash and coastal flooding, and favorable conditions for tornadoes. (more…)

“Recent encounter on the MBT – They grabbed me and tried to take my belongings”

“Dear PoPville,

On Monday (7/29) around 9:10 pm, I was biking on the MBT alone and came across a group of teenagers on the path. I wasn’t able to pass so I was biking behind them but the group stopped walking and a few guys slowly walked toward me asking for directions. They grabbed me and tried to take my belongings but another biker came shortly after and scared them away. A huge thank you to the man who was biking on the MBT Monday night and made sure I was ok! And a reminder to everyone else to be cautious and alert!“
