“Fake Verizon Scammer? In Apartment Building”

“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to share this incident with a potential scammer posing as a Verizon worker. Monday night in my apartment complex in Woodley Park, a man claiming to be from Verizon was knocking on people’s doors. He claimed that management had let him in after hours. He wore a black polo shirt, but with no indication that he was with Verizon.

Someone called the non-emergency police number. He could not provide police with an ID from Verizon, (more…)

“Reminder to stay safe – Dupont Circle”

“Dear PoPville,

Last night I (38, F) was walking home through Dupont circle at about 8:50pm. As I approached the Northeast corner of the park, there was a man standing by a bench who slammed something (sounded like a brick or heavy rock) into the bench. It appeared that he was having a mental health episode or was in an altered state. “The Walter E. Washington Convention Center will host Awesome Con from April 4 through April 6, 2025. Estimated attendance is 25,500. For more information, visit here.

Friday, April 4: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday, April 5: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Sunday, April 6: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
