The Smithsonian folklife festival has moved indoors to the Arts and Industries building, a Victorian exhibition hall – artisans like Hawk Henries (shown above performing on Native flutes he made) are sharing their art with the public. The State Fair isn’t the only show on the Mall.”

“The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) will conduct routine live-fly exercises over the National Capital Region between June 30 and July 2 from midnight to 5:30 a.m. Expect low flying aircraft, loud noises. All NORAD exercises are carefully planned and closely controlled.”

Unfortunately, our business has hit an unexpected pause after a devastating fire in a neighboring unit of our commercial kitchen complex. While our kitchen wasn’t directly damaged, we’re waiting on remediation before we can return to production—a process that’s already been ongoing for a month and could still take several more weeks or even months.
As a result, we’ve had to pause our farmers market and wholesale operations. Right now, our focus is our shop inside Union Market, and we’d love to help spread the word that we’re still here. (more…)
