DC Public Schools will be open Thursday and Friday with 2 hour delay.

NEW: DCPS will reopen tomorrow, Jan 29, and Friday, Jan 30, on a 2-hour delay.

Teams have been working hard to make sure we’re ready, and we can’t wait to welcome our learners back to their classrooms.”

DC Government will open tomorrow, Jan 29, at 10AM.

It’s crucial that we continue operations to keep our city moving forward.”

Update from Pepco:

“Pepco sent an underground crew to investigate and determined the voltage was from a DC owned traffic signal post. Pepco crews worked to make the area safe and will be standing by until DDOT can respond to the scene.

We encourage customers to contact Pepco if they see down wires or damaged equipment at 1-877-Pepco-62.”

Kevin reports on road conditions and traffic conditions: “in downtown DC are actually quite bad for commuting by car. As an illustration, Mass Ave south of Sheridan Circle has only two narrow lanes carved out in either direction and at times there is still packed snow or ice on the entire surface. All of the numbered streets between the Dupont region and K Street are bad to very bad. (more…)

“Ahead of the upcoming winter storm, Mayor Muriel Bowser has declared a State of Emergency for Washington, DC, effective immediately.

As part of the State of Emergency, the Mayor also declared a Snow Emergency that will go into effect at noon on Saturday, January 24 and stay in effect until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27. During a Snow Emergency, motorists may not park on snow emergency routes. Drivers must move vehicles off the routes no later than noon on Saturday, January 24, otherwise the vehicles can be ticketed and towed. (more…)
