And on the metro front – a reader sends from Navy Yard just after 5:15pm:
“I had to double check I wasn’t on the red line.”

“Dear PoPville,
The west (northbound) entrance to the Georgia Ave Metro station has been closed for over a week now. No sign, no explanation. I wrote to them last week asking what was up but of course never received so much as an acknowledgement (they at least used to send a confirmation that they got your message). This morning around 8 a few workers were standing around shooting the breeze with a couple of cops.
Looking at this in the context of your reader’s report on this morning’s Red line mess that WMATA didn’t bother to explain to customers and a similar situation last week, an unfortunate pattern seems to be emerging where Metro is showing even less accountability to and respect for its customers than it did before. Who’s in charge over there?”
In a rant/revel last week a reader found this update from WMATA:

@meagansham 29m29 tweets us that insane photo above:
“Absolutely absurd riding conditions on @wmata red line at Union Station this morning @PoPville. No mention of delays.”

@Metrorailinfo tweeted:
“Red Line: Woodley Park station is temporarily closed due to fire department investigation. Bus service has been requested.”
Then
“Red Line: Woodley Park station has re-opened.”
@m1192849 tweeted us the photo above just after 12:30:
“Serious activity at woodley park. @PoPville”
@jgohringer tweets us the photo inside Woodley Park metro below:
“@m1192849 @PoPville they evacuated the station a while ago.”

@kimberlymconrad tweets us the photo above around 8:45am:
“Lights out at L’Enfant Plaza”
Around 8am @iamkatesmash tweeted us:
“@PoPville power outage at l’enfant plaza station, turnstiles and escalators not working”
@edwinb_dc telling it like it is at 9:15am:

“Dear PoPville,
Just an FYI – there are a bunch of proposed bus cuts if local jurisdictions don’t step up to pay Metro’s full funding cost. I feel like the bus cuts are being overshadowed by potential changes to rail.
People can come to the Board meeting at 1pm Thursday (unlikely) [600 5th Street NW] or fill out the online form by noon Wednesday.”
