A reader reports at 3:05pm:

“Huge tree branch just fell at 9th and Constitution. Landed on light, blocking road, possibly landed on people. Large EMT presence. We ran out to try to help, but there were too many cooks in the kitchen digging through the tree mess and we needed to leave to make room for EMTs.”

From DC Fire and EMS:

“Fallen tree with victims vicinity 9th St X Constitution Ave NW. 2 pts removed being transported by EMS. Confirming no one else beneath tree.”

“Dear PoPville,

Big excitement outside SpaLogic in Dupont circle today. A mom accidentally locked her baby in the car in a hot afternoon! 911 was called and they got the baby out safely without even breaking a window! The sweet spa employees brought out cold water to mom and baby and invited them indie to sit in the AC and cool down after. Happy ending for all!”

A reader reports:

“two cars caught on fire on the 1100 block of 6th Street NW this morning sometime after 8am.

911 was called at 8:20am and the fire department arrived two minutes later. By the time I left my house at 8:35, the fire was completely put out and I would have been none the wiser if I hadn’t seen it leaving my house.

Thanks DC Fire and other emergency responders for saving the neighborhood!

Anyone else see anything?”

From DC Fire And EMS:

“DC firefighters and EMS workers are a special breed, and often quietly go the extra mile to help our citizens.

Such was the case during the Memorial Day weekend, when Truck Company 16 was dispatched to the 3400 block of Nash Place Southeast.

They arrived to find a citizen who was trimming hedges while in his walker. The walker collapsed and the gentleman fell to the ground.

The members of Truck 16 helped the man up and assisted him inside his home, but their efforts did not end there.

The firefighters went on to repair the walker, and than completed the yard work. A grateful neighbor witnessed this act of kindness, and send us these photos.

The personnel involved were Captain Mike Dolby, Firefighter Technician Mark Colbert, and Firefighters Vincent Hunnicut, Jeffrey Mathias, and Davon Moore.”
