Sometimes you tweet a random thought:
How crazy is this goddamned news cycle?
I almost completely forgot about the Popeye’s chicken sandwich.

And then God smiles upon you, courtesy of the Adams Morgan BID last night:
“It’s back in Adams Morgan tomorrow!”
To be clear “tomorrow!” is TODAY!!!

221 Pennsylvania Ave, SE
Thanks to Ian for sending: “Tried to catch a glimpse inside the open construction door at Cap Hill’s long-closed Sweetgreen. Doesn’t look remotely done.”
At least we know work is being done so it should come back eventually. STAY TUNED.

Thanks to Andy for sending: “FYI, looks like a Wendy’s is going in the basement/food court at Union Station.”

624 E Street, NW
Thanks to Mark Lyon for sending the Sweetgreen update (still no word on Capitol Hill though.)
Stay tuned for an exact opening date on E Street – gotta be any day now with the paper down.
UDPATE: A Reader says, “I actually asked a manager on Monday when it would open and was told Mon, Oct. 7.”

1916 M Street, NW
Thanks to The Baseband for sending: “unsure if this was common knowledge by now but McDonald’s on M St NW b/w 19th & 20th is totally gone and gutted!”
The location is still listed on the McDonald’s website – anyone know if it’s just an extensive renovation like they did in Dupont, U Street and Adams Morgan?

Anna writes about the Capitol Hill Sweetgreen on Penn Ave:
“WHY IS IT STILL CLOSED
Cramping my style. Do you know anything? or perhaps a reader does?”
Ed. Note: I’ve written Sweetgreen for an update but haven’t heard back from them. In possible positive news I did hear that the W Street location has reopened.

624 E Street, NW
As for the Sweetgreen coming to the former Taylor Gourmet in Penn Quarter – it’s still not open yet either.

Ed. Note: We reported that a RASA would likely be coming to the former Taylor Gourmet space here back in early August.
From a press release:
“Celebrated ‘Fine Fast Casual’ Indian restaurant RASA (1247 First Street SE) from dynamic DC-based hospitality duo Rahul Vinod and Sahil Rahman has announced that the popular eatery will be expanding their food footprint in the DC area with the addition of two new confirmed RASA locations including one in Mount Vernon Triangle (DC) – their second to open in the District in partnership with EDENS – and another in Crystal City (VA)/National Landing in partnership with JBG SMITH – making it their first RASA location to open outside of the District. In addition Rahman and Vinod are also thrilled to announce their new partnership with legendary Washington Redskins Tight End Vernon Davis.

475 K Street, NW
Featuring 1,400 square feet, RASA at EDENS’ CityVista (475 K Street NW) is slated to open in Winter 2019. As a DC-based national retail real estate developer, owner, and operator, EDENS added RASA to their curated selection of retailer partners to further engage the community. (more…)
