In June CNN reported:
“Tailored Brands (TLRD), which owns the Men’s Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank and K&G brands, could be the next major American retailer to file for bankruptcy.”

Last week we posted that “It looks like we are losing B Too.” Too. Thanks to Jennifer for passing their note from Instagram:
“Dear guests and friends,
This has been quite a year… from politics to civil rights… from the pandemic to the economy… We’re all experiencing extraordinary times. Through it all, I hope that you are healthy and happy. My team and I are very grateful for your support over the years and especially since re-opening Belga Café and Betsy. Some of my proudest moments have been the opportunities we’ve had to welcome you back into our restaurants, and to treat you as family. We’ve made the very difficult decision to close B Too on 14th street. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
So my apartment building turned off our water for an emergency repair from 9am-5pm today due to a major leak. But our toilets are old school, so even though I did my due diligence and collected water in my bath tub, they do not flush. As a result of us all working from home, this as you can imagine is a major inconvenience. It’s not like there’s a coffee shop I can go to and work today.
Anyone have ideas for a Wi-Fi friendly place one can socially distance with a running toilet? Our building is old and I bet this will happen again.”

Was going through my photo archives yesterday after folks were asking why Bistro Bohem opening in 2012 was such a big deal…anyway came across the sign above from around 2007/2008. And it reminded me that I totally forgot to post Melody’s awesome share from this weekend (volume up): (more…)

Passing on Charlie’s query:
“My DC apt isn’t mandating masks despite staff members & residents testing positive for covid!
Does your DC apt require masks in common areas? PLEASE respond with your building name so that I can add it to a list of responsible buildings I’ll be emailing to my irresponsible one. Thank You!”

“Dear PoPville,
My kid goes to a school where all students receive free lunch. Because of this, our family is eligible to receive Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) benefits ($28.50 per week for the time school was not open because of the quarantine, mid-March to mid-June), even though our household income would normally make us ineligible for other food benefits. It can only be spent on food. I’d prefer the funds go to someone in greater need than us, but I’m not sure what the best way to ensure this is. (more…)

Ah cool! Their Facebook page had an announcement for an event July 7:
“Itching for an excuse to drink outside? #DC, you’re in luck!
We’re teaming up with #60studios for a Patio Powerhour Party, where you can vibe out to an hour-long visual powerhour of 60 music video clips, played at a quick pace & projected on the brick wall, in our beautiful cocktail garden. (more…)

“From the looks of it, one of my favorite Wine Wednesdays at Magnolia Kitchen & Bar at Connecticut & Q St. maybe closing for good. Nothing definite yet, so I have hope, but given the state of everything, hope may not be enough.” (more…)
