Your summer nights are about to get a lot more adventurous. Beginning June 27th, join us after hours at the National Geographic Museum of Exploration for a brand-new series of evening events. Here’s a first look at what’s coming up:
Celebrate the Museum of Exploration’s Grand Opening with a one-night-only, after-hours marketplace inspired by street festivals, night markets and bazaars around the world.
This FREE event will feature live music and DJ sets that bring the museum to life, along with food and beverage for purchase from international street food vendors and outdoor bars. Plus, hear from a National Geographic photographer on the fascinating stories behind their work.
Gather with friends, explore flavors from around the world, dance to live music under starlight and explore in a whole new way.
Exhibition Showcases are special evening events that bring National Geographic exhibitions to life through storytelling, conversation and performance. This summer we celebrate our premier exhibition, “Red, White & Blue”.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception in Explorers Eatery alongside talks from featured Explorers and photographers. You will then explore our photography galleries for an exclusive private viewing. The experience will culminate with live performance inspired by the exhibition on view, offering time to explore the work in a unique way.
These celebrations end with FREE access to the Courtyard Nighttime Experience.

Crafted & Poured brings people together through hands-on creative experiences in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Whether you’re coming with friends, planning a date night, or attending solo, you’ll have the opportunity to meet new people, enjoy a drink, and create something you’ll take home at the end of the evening.
You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. But please no personal attacks and no need to correct people’s grammar. This is a place to vent and/or celebrate things about daily life in D.C.
