1919 Connecticut Ave, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Wondering if you or anybody in the community know what was up with the giant line this morning at the Washington Hilton? It stretched from the front door almost all the way down to Florida Ave. Have lived across the street for 4 years and have never seen anything like this except for the WHCA dinner.”

205 Pennsylvania Ave, SE

“Dear PoPville,

I just stopped by Burrito Brothers on Pennsylvania Ave and saw that they’re permanently closed. The local chain had been around for at least thirty five years and had locations all over the city, but the last outpost got booted by their landlord. Such a shame. The name on the storefront is definitely down. I spoke with the hair salon next door and apparently they closed Saturday.”

Google has them listed as temporarily closed but it seems more likely to be “temporarily” closed: (more…)

What the Helen of Troy is This

“Dear PoPville,

Any idea what’s going on at the White House this week? 17th St closed as far north as K St, the D72 could not get to its usual last two stops (and no showed going northbound yesterday at 5pm for at least 45 minutes), 16th and I has been turned into some sort of security checkpoint and staging area. I get that this WH doesn’t actually care about DC residents, but WMATA and MPD should be able to do better. Or at least communicate better.”

ABC reports, “Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be angling for President Donald Trump’s ear as both wartime leaders are set to meet with Trump at the White House Tuesday amid global conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine.”
