“Over the weekend, Saturday, Feb. 3 and Sunday, Feb. 4, Metro will perform maintenance and track work impacting the Red, Green, and Yellow lines. All other lines will operate regularly scheduled weekend service. Customers are advised to plan ahead for service adjustments.

On the Red Line, free shuttle buses will replace trains between the Dupont Circle and Van Ness stations to install radio and fiber-optic cables to support future technology improvements. The Cleveland Park and Woodley Park stations will be closed. (more…)

Big crash at 11th and S NW, across from Garrison Elementary. At at 3:27 AM, a green pickup truck with Maryland license plates came barreling down 11th St NW from U Street. “The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces that ticketing for Phase 2 of the Clear Lanes program will begin on January 29, 2024. Clear Lanes, in partnership with Metro, aims to improve bus travel times and enhance bus stop safety and accessibility by using cameras mounted on Metrobuses to identify vehicles illegally operating, parking, standing, or stopping in dedicated bus lanes and bus zones. Photos of violating vehicles are sent to DDOT, which will verify a qualifying offense.

Starting on January 29, 2024, Phase 2 enforcement begins, in which drivers illegally driving, parking, standing, or stopping in a bus lane (areas marked by red paint and signage) may receive a $100 fine. Phase 1 began November 15, 2024, in which drivers illegally parking, standing, or stopping in a bus zone (area around a bus stop) may receive a $100 fine. (more…)

For what feels like the 900th time (Saturday), I am standing outside a Metro station calling an Uber I can’t afford because the two Metro stations near me (Cleveland and Woodley Park) routinely have their entrance gates locked well after the trains have allegedly started running (see time stamp
