“Dear PoPville,
For what feels like the 900th time (Saturday), I am standing outside a Metro station calling an Uber I can’t afford because the two Metro stations near me (Cleveland and Woodley Park) routinely have their entrance gates locked well after the trains have allegedly started running (see time stamp
on this email). I work on weekends, I need to be there by 8am, and Metro is my only form of transit.
I’m not alone in this — frequently I’m surrounded by crowds of other weekend commuters or confused tourists trying to get into the station and on to the trains we can hear passing inside!
I truly cannot afford to be taking all these Ubers and you would hardly think Metro could afford to be running trains people can’t get on and pay for. Is there anything to be done about this? I am losing my entire mind!”
