From WMATA:

“Metro Transit Police daily blotter reports show the time and location of arrests, reports and citations for a specified 24-hour period. Generally, reports are published every weekday, except holidays. Please note that blotter reports are not a comprehensive list of every police event, and information is based on initial reports made to MTPD. Follow-up investigations may reveal different or additional information. As a result, the classification of crimes may change as investigations are advanced. Please refer to crime statistics for official information. Incidents that occur aboard trains are reported from the nearest rail station.”

The 4000-series rail cars are by far Metro’s least reliable, traveling an average of only 27,259 miles between delays. By contrast, the best performing cars, the 6000-series, are nearly four times more reliable, traveling more than 103,000 miles between delays. (more…)

From DDOT:

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced a Request For Proposals (RFP) for the design-build construction of the next phase of the Metropolitan Branch Trail. The Fort Totten section of the Metropolitan Branch Trail will connect from where it currently ends on John McCormack Drive in Brookland, to the Fort Totten Metro Station.

“This is the next major milestone in the District’s commitment to completing the construction of the Metropolitan Branch Trail,” said Leif Dormsjo, DDOT Director. “A design-build approach will help us engage the creativity of the construction community to bring their ideas to the final design and construction.”

The Metropolitan Branch Trail is an 8-mile multi-use trail that connects Union Station in the District of Columbia to Silver Spring Maryland. The new trail will provide a direct off-street route for bicyclists and pedestrians through the Fort Totten area.

The trail will include LED lighting, security cameras, and wayfinding signage. (more…)
