“Dear PoPville,
Yesterday while driving to work on the BW Parkway, I had the absolute scariest experience of my life. Without reliving it, I will just say that this fellow driver should not be allowed to drive– this was not your standard speeding, or tailgating, or merging when you shouldn’t, or just being a “Maryland driver” that we all love to hate. This was intentional insanity with no regards to my safety, any other driver’s safety, or quite frankly, his own. I was very lucky that I emerged unscathed from his two attempts to cause an accident with my car, but I am incredibly concerned that he is still on the road.
My question is this: is there a way to report drivers like this? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Yesterday around 8:15 a.m., a dump truck going fast downhill toward a 33 bus stopped at Wisconsin and 34th Street veered off the road and onto the sidewalk, barreling across the sidewalk in front of Hardy Middle School and narrowly missing several pedestrians who scattered to get out of its way. The driver of the truck then briefly stopped on 34th and then continued southward. I called 911, as did others on the scene (I think). It’s unclear whether the driver lost control or drove into the sidewalk intentionally. No idea if police ever stopped the driver.”

Thanks to Joanna for sending:
“Saw this on my way to the Cleveland Park metro this morning. They knocked over pillars belong to The Broadmoor apartments near Adas Israel. Yikes.” (more…)

Thanks to Raymondo for reporting from Wisconsin Ave at Brandywine around 6:30am:
“Driver crossed lanes, jumped curb, took out tree and guardrail. Landed in CVS parking lot.” (more…)

Joel reports yesterday around 5:30pm:
“From 14th and Corcoran during the evening rush. One covers the bike lane, the other the motor vehicle lane. Now that’s teamwork.”

Thanks to Joel for sending:
“From Mass Ave NW between 10th and 11th. This parking job is a work of art, the way it so perfectly captures what’s wrong with car culture. They couldn’t have gotten it more perfectly centered in a crowded sidewalk during the morning rush.”

“Dear PoPville,
There was a hit and run that happened last night at approximately 9:55 PM at the intersection of R ST NW and 6th ST NW. I was about to cross 6th street, standing on R when I saw a cyclist (who had a green light) crossing 6th street in the bike lane on R St. At the same time, a speeding car driver turning left from Rhode Island Ave NW ran the red light and T-boned the cyclist at the intersection, sending him and his bike flying. The car driver decelerated for a few seconds, and sped away on 6th street heading south. (more…)
