“Coming off a two-city road trip, the Nationals return home to D.C. on Friday for an exciting nine-game homestand during which the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, and Milwaukee Brewers come to town.

In response to the Mayor’s announcement on Monday regarding mask requirements in the District of Columbia, the Washington Nationals will be changing the face covering policy at Nationals Park for the upcoming homestand, starting Friday, May 21. Please see below for more details.

In addition, the Government of the District of Columbia has approved the team’s request to operate at 100% capacity starting June 10th, (more…)

“I.M.P., the 9:30 Club, The Anthem and Lincoln Theatre, along with Monumental Sports, sent Mayor Bowser this letter last Thursday, in which we offer up our facilities, people, and marketing resources to encourage everyone to get vaccinated, and offer a rational, safe approach: seeking permission to reopen two months after everyone eligible has had access to the vaccines.  We propose that the Mayor allow our venues to open at full capacity beginning July 1, 2021.

While her office has acknowledged receipt, we have not received a substantive response and so we are eager to hear her address this issue during this morning’s press conference. (more…)

“As thousands of sports fans and workers return to the ballpark, stadium and arena to support the region’s professional sports teams, Metro will be there to get them home even if the game goes beyond Metro’s normal closing time.

Beginning Tuesday, April 27, through the end of the year, Metro will “flex” service for an additional 30 minutes after the game ends, (until midnight), and will waive the fees normally charged to the team for extra late-night service. The rail station closest to the sporting venue will be the only station open for customers to enter. All other stations will be “exit only.” Anyone in line at that time will be accommodated.

The “flex” service will support the region’s economic recovery and provide fans and employees of the region’s professional sports teams – Wizards, Capitals, Nationals, Mystics, DC United, and The Washington Football team – an easy, convenient way to get to and from games.

“Metro is proud to be a part of this community, and we are excited to welcome back fans and workers who support our home teams,” said Metro General Manager/CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld. “We welcome them to ride Metro on game day with the assurance that Metro will be there for them on the ride home.”

“The Washington Nationals will celebrate Opening Day and their first home game of the 2021 season on Thursday, April 1 when the team hosts the New York Mets. The game will be aired exclusively on ESPN, with first pitch scheduled for 7:09 p.m. ET. The game will also be broadcasted on 106.7 The Fan FM.

In accordance with CDC recommendations and MLB protocols, the Nationals will implement appropriate social distancing and safety measures that will allow Nationals Park to host 5,000 fans on Opening Day. Discussions have already begun with officials from the District about increasing capacity for the second homestand, which begins April 15. (more…)
