Following along the lines of yesterday’s city sign, I thought I’d continue the theme with this supermarket sign located at 1231 11th Street, NW in Shaw. Any fans of this spot?

This one from Sanjay Suchak made me chuckle because he titled it, “I assure you it is NOT”.

Thanks to a reader for telling me about this sign located on a house around the 3900 block of 14th Street, NW. I have to admit, even though I took this photo from the sidewalk, I was pretty terrified that the door was going to open at any moment. Thankfully I had fully stretched and was prepared to run like the wind…

The Texas boot is the bomb. That is the Texan flag, right?

The “U Like” is super fresh.

I’ve noticed this sign at Pete’s in Columbia Heights a number of times. So I asked someone at the shop who were they quoting as “Best Pizza in DC”, City Paper? Washingtonian? Nope they are self declared. There was a weak explanation that many of their patrons tell them it is so. Brilliant! Don’t get me wrong I like their pizza and all but I think it’s a bit disingenuous to declare oneself the “Best”. I guess I’m troubled that they used quotation marks. Although, next week City Paper will release their best of issue so maybe they’ll win for the pizza category…
Food Shoppe. Really? C’mon CVS, I go to you for shampoo and toothpaste and other sundries. I always go to you for these. I hardly think stocking cans of Hormel chili qualifies you as a “food shoppe”. Just embrace who you are. Does anyone actually shop at CVS for food?

Here’s another cool shot from sophiagrrl who notes the three generations of signs. I think they can fit one more above the yellow sign up top…

Anyone recognize where this is from? It’s interesting that it’s called Lorenzo’s Billar Corner and not Lorenzo’s Billar Esquina.

The lady came out of the store and couldn’t understand why I was taking a photo. All I could say was – “Doo Grow, Doo Grow, that’s awesome!”. I think she thought I was slightly insane… You have to admit, that is a pretty sweet name, yeah?
