I suppose I could be opening myself up to claims that I’m culturally insensitive but I don’t care. This sign is awesome. A friend of mine just took it in Olongapo, Philippines.

PoPville flickr user Pleasant Street noticed that part of the EatMore Fried Chicken sign had vanished from the corner of Georgia and Quincy, NW. Back in June ’08 we noted that the building was for sale. Perhaps it has finally sold. Here’s what it used to look like:

Well from the sign above the title doesn’t make much sense. But here’s a wider angle:

A few people have inquired about the Gatsby ain’t Great signs seen in Columbia Heights. I’m gonna assume they are a band? Does anyone know? Similarly in the comments section someone asked if anyone knew what the Trial of a Lifetime poster found on 14th St, NW (across from St. Ex) means. Anyone know for sure what either of these signs are referring to?

I don’t know what it is about wine shops on 18th Street, NW but they are placing the bar pretty high for new city signs. A.M. Wine Shoppe is located at 2122 18th Street, NW.

When do you think they stopped saying Submarines and just started using the abbreviation? What decade do you think this sign is from – 40s or 50s?

PoPville flickr user EmailRamon found the great sign above and I found the one below. It’s not as good as the one above but Cigars and Cheese just looked really funny to me:
