Tired thief or someone just having fun?
“Woke up to find this on our fence near H street. My guess is that it was taken from its home and the thief got tired of carrying it and just left it there. Would love to get it back to its owner.”
Update: “Even more random — my next door neighbor just sent an updated picture. Someone moved the lighthouse to another fence post, and added a Buddha figurine, mushroom figurines, and rocks.”
Gotta just be someone having fun…

“Washington, D.C. Native Becomes New Champion on The Price is Right! Joseph Cody from Washington, D.C. had a chance to “Come on Down” and win a sensational selection of prizes. This once in a lifetime opportunity for your local resident will be airing on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.”
Uh, Congrats to Mr. Cody. Way to represent!! I am genuinely jealous.

Been a minute since I had the opportunity to nominate another unsung hero. Can’t say I’ve seen someone take this shortcut before. Not sure the photos do it justice but that hill is really steep. This connects Rock Creek Parkway to Georgetown.
Ed. Note: I don’t literally think these folks are heroes along the lines of firefighters and emergency responders, apologies if that was not clear. You can see previous nominees here. Should you spot a quiet act of heroism along these lines please do send an email with a brief description and the neighborhood where it was witnessed to [email protected]

Thanks to a reader for sending this cat crossing sign from the Squangle:
“An unusual street sign found posted this morning on the 300 block of M Street, NW.”
This crossing one’s still my favorite from the reservoir near Howard University:
