Park Road just before Mount Pleasant Street, NW
“Dear PoPville,
In this photo a happy little Mount Pleasant park sits sun drenched and empty. There’s nothing really special about it.
A morning exercise class uses it. Rotating clusters of people wait for the H4. Kids skip through. Dog walkers chat with runners stretching out and folks waiting for the bus. A guy always parks his Vespa here alongside some bikes.
Everyone in the neighborhood gets to enjoy or ignore this little public space. It could definitely be improved. (more…)

I’ve been noticing that the construction crew on the upper level of Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park has been very abusive to the already deteriorating turf. As they work to repair the lower section of the park, it seems that they are simultaneously damaging the other heavily used section. Photos are below. (more…)

Thanks to Martin for the update: “For those keeping track of the David’s Tent saga, it is now set up in Folger Park in Southeast, which seems about as remote as it gets when it comes to tourist foot traffic. Can’t imagine they’ll get too many visitors here.”

I’m wondering whether you can ask the community about people’s experience with the airbnb ban next week. There are some foreign journalists who have had a reservation to stay at my house through inauguration week (the reservation is still active) and I’m wondering when it will be canceled as it’s supposed to be. Have others had their cancellations already?”
