Back in July we learned that a Tavern called Mama ‘San would be coming to the lower levels. Last week a liquor license placard was also posted on the second floor for a spot called Lyve at U, which says:
“New Retailer’s Class “C” Tavern serving seafood, burgers, wings, and salads. Applicant is applying for an Entertainment Endorsement with Dancing and Cover Charge inside the premises only. Applicant is applying for Sports Wagering with 1 teller, 2 self-service kiosks, and multiple geo-fenced mobile applications. Applicant is also applying for a Sidewalk Café Endorsement with 12 seats. Total seating inside premises is 219 with a Total Occupancy Load of 400.”

“On Friday, August 30, 2019, DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will be moving its headquarters from 1250 U Street NW and Columbia Heights Recreation Center to one centralized location at 1275 First Street NE. As of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, the new DPR headquarters will be open for business. DPR’s Customer CARE phone number remains the same: (202) 673-7647.
The move to one location will allow increased collaboration and coordination between DPR divisions to provide an elevated level of Customer CARE to District residents.

Located along 9½ Street, at U Street and Vermont Avenue in DC’s historic Shaw neighborhood, the 9½ Street Initiative is the result of a decade‐long effort and collaboration between Community Three, the District of Columbia’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and the African American Civil War Museum.
