Department of Parks and Recreation moving their Headquarters from U Street to NoMa

“On Friday, August 30, 2019, DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will be moving its headquarters from 1250 U Street NW and Columbia Heights Recreation Center to one centralized location at 1275 First Street NE. As of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, the new DPR headquarters will be open for business. DPR’s Customer CARE phone number remains the same: (202) 673-7647.

The move to one location will allow increased collaboration and coordination between DPR divisions to provide an elevated level of Customer CARE to District residents.

The following central operations’ offices will be housed at 1275 First Street NE:

Director’s Office
Communications Office
Customer CARE Office
Permits and Registration Office
Operations Group (Capital Projects, Facilities, Procurement, SAFE Office, Information Technology)
Partnerships & Development Office (Volunteer Program, Donations, and Grants)
Finance Office
Human Resources Office
General Counsel’s Office
Athletics Programs
Aquatics Programs
Camps and Seasonal Programs and Recreation Services
Cooperative Play Program
Cultural Arts Programs
Diversity Initiatives
Environmental Programs
Food and Nutrition
Teen Programs
Senior Services
Training and Development

DPR expects the below divisions will be restored to full operations by the following dates:

Walk-in Service: September 3, 2019

Customer CARE: September 9, 2019

Permits: September 11, 2019

Human Resources: September 11, 2019

No other DPR facilities will be affected by this move. DPR appreciates its customers’ patience and understanding during the move.”

Girls in Gear is a Non-Profit that teaches girls age 5+ life skills through bike skills. We aim to get your girl to fall in love with herself, her friends, and her bike! Registration is open across the DMV for our eight-week program that starts the weekend of September 23rd. Programming runs for 90 minutes once a week on a weekend morning.

All abilities of riders – balance bikes, training wheels, two wheels, road-bike pros and everything in between – are welcome. We are non-competitive and focus on having fun no matter what your level of riding is. We pride ourselves in being a low-cost program and also have a no-questions-asked scholarship policy that includes bikes and helmets if needed.
