From a press release:

“The Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID) welcomes the announcement earlier today that the D.C. Government’s Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) will begin accepting applications for four licenses beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10.

Georgetown is a popular commercial destination with more than 120 restaurants, cafes and bakeries in addition to over 300 stores, salons and galleries. Welcoming new, high-quality restaurants is an important part of sustaining Georgetown’s status as a world-renowned neighborhood.

The ABRA announcement covers one tavern license and three restaurant licenses. The tavern license is only available to an existing restaurant located in the Georgetown Historic District. The three new restaurant licenses stem from a license class change and from cancellations of previous or existing licenses. (more…)

Another reader sent a brief description from a craigslist ad:

“We are opening a restaurant in the neighborhood part of Georgetown. The restaurant’s main focus is high quality tea and coffee service with plated desserts and light fares.
We are hiring for servers and cooks.
All applicants need to have or be able to pass Servsafe.
Cooks will need to have a passion for pastry work along with savory applications.”

Their twitter page says:

“After Peacock Room
A new tea house and cafe in Georgetown featuring fine teas, espresso, and small plates of delectable cuisine.”

From a press release:

“James Beard award-winning chef, Fabio Trabocchi, opened his third D.C. restaurant, Fiola Mare cucina di pesce, at the Washington Harbour in Georgetown on Friday evening, February 21. Like his flagship restaurant Fiola, Fiola Mare offers world-class hospitality and service complete with a one of a kind view of the Potomac River. The new waterfront seafood restaurant evokes the seaside dining experience found along the coasts of Italy and the Mediterranean.

“Our inspiration comes from the coastal restaurants that dot the entire Italian peninsula, on the Mediterranean and Adriatic coasts. The foundation of Fiola Mare is the highest quality seafood available today – from lobsters, oysters, local and imported fish, sustainable Italian caviar, hand made pastas, Italian wines and Italian inspired cocktails – the sum of it all is simplicity, purity, natural flavors and elegance,” says Trabocchi. “The idea of the restaurant and the waterfront location are inseparable.”

With the Potomac River as the focal point, seating is arranged to offer maximum exposure to the river views, including four private dining rooms, an all-season glass enclosed veranda and select seasonal tables aligning the boardwalk. The open kitchen layout, the Seafood Market Counter display and a mixology station showcase the attention to detail and importance of the guests’ experience. (more…)

Here’s the cool old Georgetown house from 26th and P St, NW. From Black Georgetown Remembered:

“Former site of the good Samaritan Hall (Briggs Hall) at 1514 26th Street. This building was used by the black community until the 1940s as a place of worship and meetinghouse. It is now a private residence.”

Yesterday the Georgetown BID released the GEORGETOWN 2028 15 YEAR ACTION PLAN:

“The goal, simply put, was to bring together a disparate group of community members to collaborate on the steps that would enhance the Georgetown experience for our visitors, residents, business owners and the people who work here. After more than 100 hours of meetings that engaged more than 200 members of our professional and residential community, a consensus plan was reached which includes 75 recommendations to address pressing transportation issues, enhance public space, reduce office vacancies and attract more unique shops and restaurant.

The resulting Georgetown 2028 Plan and Action Agenda can be read here
