726 7th Street, NW

Back in Sept. 2012 we learned that a Lime Fresh Mexican Grill would be taking over the Potbelly space at 726 7th Street, NW. A press release said:

“Potbelly will close its doors before the opening of Lime Fresh in mid-2013.”

I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a Potbelly closing. Anyway, seems things are moving forward with Lime Fresh as they’ve applied for a liquor license that says:

“A new full service restaurant serving healthy Mexican cuisine and beverages. Total Occupancy Load is 66; number of seats inside is 58.

You can see their menu here. We judged the Lime Fresh Columbia Heights location here.

From Georgetown University’s website:

Scheduled to open in late 2013, the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies will move to a new, principal space located at the intersection of 7th St. and Massachusetts Ave., NW in downtown Washington, D.C. The new Georgetown Downtown campus will help the School fulfill its mission of educating students to become more reflective, active, purposeful citizens who strive to make a difference to their own lives and to the world around them.

Located in one of the city’s most vibrant and accessible neighborhoods, this expansion from the Hilltop will further position the University as an anchor of Washington, D.C., expanding educational opportunity and fomenting community engagement through learning and service. The location was carefully selected to be accessible to our community of students and professionals and features comprehensive transportation options. The School is working with architects to design a space that reimagines the educational experience for the 21st century. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, professionals and community leaders will be able to connect with each other in new ways and in a neighborhood that offers hundreds of amenities and services.

772 5th Street, NW

Back in September we learned that Absolute Noodle would be coming to the former Quiznos space at 772 5th Street, NW. I spoke with some of the workers on Saturday and it looks like they’ll be opening up in 2-3 more weeks. They’ve also applied for a liquor license that says:

“Full Thai Noodle Menu. Total Occupancy Load is 49.”

Have a look at the menu after the jump. (more…)

7th and I St, NW

MPD tweeted about an hour ago:

“Suspicious Package @ 9th & G St NW, Street closure from 900-1000 blk of G St NW. Avoid the area.”

A reader hears that in addition:

“There was a bank robbery at TD Bank (on 7th) and a bomb scare in tech world. (This is all second hand info – but just passing along). As an FYI, the security guards and police are still keeping that section of 7th street closed off and no one seems to be able to walk through techworld plaza (7th & K St NW).”
