“Dear PoPville,

The concert is a few days after my due date, so this was intended to be a birthday gift that he could attend with a friend. Lo and behold, we have been totally stymied by the no-transfer ticket situation. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

They were GOOD.

I was driving and could only pull over for a minute to listen. I’ve just had an emotional day thinking of my dad, he passed away almost a year ago and his birthday is in a few days. ICYMI: On Friday we looked at historic photos from where the original 9:30 Club was located on F Street, which The Atlantis is based. Super cool history about the building too.

“Dear PoPville,

It’s now happened multiple times – a marching band down 13th st on a Wednesday night. Any idea what’s going on?”

Another reader asks: “do you know anything about the marching band / parade in NW today around 7 pm? i saw them on 11th between R and S. it made my day.”

I’m guessing it’s practice for the annual United House of Prayer Memorial Day Parade.

Around 94% occur in a single ward of D.C., Ward 2, known for very high-income residential neighborhoods such as Georgetown and Capitol Hill. 97% are held in churches and large auditoriums defined by their formality. They are also long… averaging around 120 minutes, and offer few opportunities for interaction among audience members.
