Happy 25th(!!) Anniversary to Tryst

2459 18th Street, NW

From Tryst:

“Tryst Coffeehouse opened its doors in September 1998 with the simple goal of building meaningful connections, one animal cracker at a time. Over the years, Tryst has become synonymous with community. “Thank you to all of our employees and patrons, both past and present, for the lasting imprint you’ve made on Tryst… transforming it into what we’ve always envisioned: Washington, DC’s very own ‘community living room,’” Tryst posted on Facebook earlier this month.

To celebrate 25 years of service, Tryst is throwing it back to the early days with a 90’s-themed bash on Saturday, September 9th.

Party the night away with era-appropriate drinks and snacks, and top hits from the 90’s and 00’s courtesy of Tiny Vinyl.

But the celebration doesn’t end there! Come to Tryst throughout the month to partake in fun events, games, programming, and prizes. The management and staff of Tryst look forward to celebrating the past 25 years with former employees, friends, neighbors, and community members that have made Tryst what it is today. Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
