This is across from Bohemian Caverns. What’s up with the Washington Monument cracked in half? Or am I just being too sensitive?

The sign says: “To Whom It May Concern. For property taxes we pay, we would like to receive some services.*”
*The definition of services can be mutually agreed.

I’ve never taken a close look at their fence before but the sculpture of the two people sitting over the table is brilliant.

I was wondering what this place was. I was most taken by the sign that says “eat responsibly”. That seems like a funny selling point to me. But anyway I was glad to see a post in Counter Intelligence describing the new restaurant in detail. She explains that Chix is “an organic, environmentally conscious rotisserie chicken eat-in and take out place owned by Lukas Umana and Victoria Garcia. Stock is made on site daily, the rice is organic, the chicken comes from their rotisserie, and it’s garnished with onions and cilantro.”
So has anyone checked it out yet?

This is the sign out front of a tattoo parlor located at you guessed it, 926 U Street, NW. Incidentally, I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo lately but I couldn’t decide what I wanted to get. Well, I think that question has finally been answered…

I had really been looking forward to checking out the 9th and U St. Flea Market…little did I know. The photo above almost cost me a serious ass kicking. I’m kind of like Vinny Testaverde, one more ass kicking and it will do me some serious permanent damage. So even though that is not the greatest picture you have to appreciate it just a little bit given the circumstances. You see when I tried to take the above picture the proprietor of the stand beneath it pretty much freaked out. And her very large friend advised me not to take any photos. After some serious pleading – alright fine – crying, I promised only to capture the sign and not any of her merchandise for sale. So please ignore the jackets in the picture for my own safety. Please. (more…)

Bonus points if you can identify the musicians depicted in the mural.

Anyone know the scoop on the Ulah Bistro coming to U Street between 13th and 12th? Thanks Justin for the correction!

I had the opportunity to see Julia Nixon last weekend at the Lincoln Theater. Julia Nixon is probably most famous for her role on Broadway as the lead Effie in Dreamgirls. This concert was celebrating the release of her new album Onward & Upward. The concert was quite nice, although to be perfectly frank, not exactly my cup of tea as it were. But I was super excited to get to check out the inside of the Lincoln Theater. Quite nice, but I felt like it was missing some huge chandeliers… Anyway, if you like Rhythm & Blues you ought to check out some Julia Nixon. More photos after the jump. (more…)

My beloved Taco Bell on 14th Street has a new sign. Hopefully, this means the opening will be imminent… I’m praying for a miracle by Festivus.
