“Overhead Baseball Lights at Harrison Park (1300 block V St NW) on 24/7”

UPDATE: “after many calls from my neighbors it seems DPR sent out a maintenance crew and has finally turned off these lights.”

“Dear PoPville,

I live on the 1300 block of V St NW facing Harrison Park. On Monday, a maintenance crew came out and did something to the baseball diamond’s overhead lights. It seems like they haven’t finished that job yet and left a cherry picker parked on V St. Not sure what happened, but every since the lights have been left permanently on and now it’s keeping everyone on the block up at night. As you can see in the photos attached, it is super, super bright – great for nighttime little league games, not so much at 1 AM when we’re trying to sleep. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I was wondering if you or your readers would know why I was woken up by the sound of small regular explosions this morning around 7am? (near U Street metro) There would be a series of them, like fireworks slowly going off, and then a pause for several minutes and then the sound would start again.”
