On May 18, 2012, at approximately 2143 hours, First District personnel were dispatched to the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, NW, in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival on the scene, First District members discovered an unconscious male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced.
The suspect, who was last seen running westbound in the unit block of N Street, Northwest, was described as a black male, 5’7″, medium complexion with a beard.
The offense is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Branch Unit, 202-645-9600. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Back in Oct. 2010 scuttlebutt was confirmed that the Brass Knob Warehouse was closing at 57 N St, NW in Truxton Circle. For those who never had the chance to check out the amazing warehouse you can see a bunch of photos I took in March 2009 here. It was a magical place to many.
They officially closed in Spring 2011. This is a huge property near a rapidly developing section of the city:

For a hot second it looked like the great building at the corner of 3rd and P St, NW could become home to a wine store. The retail space has become a regular bodega/corner store called 3rd Street Market.

Yesterday and today, while biking to work, I noticed folks beginning reconstruction/renovation work on the retail building at the SW corner of North Capitol and P Streets. The building was obviously hit by a car many years ago . . . doing significant damage to the corner of the building. It’s been a vacant eyesore for many years and I’m hopeful that the building’s restoration might lead to a new non-bullet-proof-glass retail business on a depressing stretch of North Cap that’s dripping with potential.
Anyone hear any rumors of who may be moving in?
Back in Oct. we learned that Uncle Chip’s was coming to 1514 North Capitol St, NW south of Florida Ave. They’ve recently opened and the space looks great!
