“I arrived home to my house on the 1600 block of 4th Street NW last night and found this sweet, big boy stuck in my front yard. He seemed to have wandered up my walkway and somehow closed the gate behind him. According to my neighbor, it happened at around 9 pm (she heard him barking). We called animal control because none of us could keep him with our existing pets. He looked intimidating but was quite a softy. He isn’t neutered and although he looked like he had cataracts, the animal control officer guessed that he is young.

We are trying to track down his home if he has one; we did confirm today that he isn’t microchipped.. If anyone in Truxton Circle/Bloomingdale/Shaw recognizes him, he’s at the New York Ave shelter.

We are also sending to Lost and Found dogs FB.”

Catania Bakery is located at 1404 North Capitol St, NW (just south of P).

Thanks to a reader for sending the new hours:

“I was walking past Catania Bakery this morning and noticed their new signage and new Friday hours. I don’t believe they have ever posted their hours before and their website makes no mention of being open to the public. Their Saturday hours were always sort of a secret and you had to go early before everything ran out. In addition to the new signage they have removed the window bars, so it looks rather nice from the street. I’m hoping the inside remains the same, because it really is like walking back in time to another era.”

North Capitol and P St, NW

“Dear PoPville,

In the last day or so (maybe since yesterday morning), the building on the corner off North Cap and P was completely demolished (picture attached). I think I read somewhere a while ago that it was owned by Douglas, but I could be making that up. Any idea what is going in here? First, Uncle Chips adds alcohol, then DCity Smokehouse beautified itself; even Firehouse is finally opening next week. Does this mean the revitalization of North Cap has finally arrived?”
