Thanks to a reader for sending the new hours:
“I was walking past Catania Bakery this morning and noticed their new signage and new Friday hours. I don’t believe they have ever posted their hours before and their website makes no mention of being open to the public. Their Saturday hours were always sort of a secret and you had to go early before everything ran out. In addition to the new signage they have removed the window bars, so it looks rather nice from the street. I’m hoping the inside remains the same, because it really is like walking back in time to another era.”

A reader writes:
“Found this cute young female dog at approx 9:45am at the corner of P and 3rd St NW. Humane Society has been called. She is a little skittish and extremely sweet.”

North Capitol and P St, NW
“Dear PoPville,
In the last day or so (maybe since yesterday morning), the building on the corner off North Cap and P was completely demolished (picture attached). I think I read somewhere a while ago that it was owned by Douglas, but I could be making that up. Any idea what is going in here? First, Uncle Chips adds alcohol, then DCity Smokehouse beautified itself; even Firehouse is finally opening next week. Does this mean the revitalization of North Cap has finally arrived?”

@kylesinDC tweets us on Friday:
“The uniformity of Bates St has been destroyed. A sad day in @TruxtonCircle”

8 Florida Ave, NW
The new signage at DCity Smokehouse is so good – particularly the “boarded up” windows:

Uncle Chip’s opened up on North Capitol between P and Florida Ave back in Jan. 2012. A liquor license placard has been posted that says:
“New tavern serving bakery items. Social Meeting place. Occupancy load is 8. Sidewalk Cafe.”
Hours are listed as Sunday through Saturday 7 am – 10 pm.
Any fans of Uncle Chip’s? Would you get a beer here?

I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste, obviously, but I dig it. Last we heard it was going to be used as someone’s office. From P Street just west of North Capitol.
