aquamarine_pop_up

Back in July a reader wrote in about this aquamarine pop up on P Street in Truxton Circle. Thanks to a reader for sending word of the new paint job – they note it is now “A very bland and inoffensive off white.” Here’s how it looks now:

Which do you prefer – aquamarine or white?

Dunbar High School Track Open to Public?

“Construction at Dunbar High School’s track looks like its complete. Anyone know if it will be open to the public at all?

I know Cardozo’s is open in the mornings, and I was hoping Dunbar would be the same, but so far everything is still locked up.”

“Dear PoPville,

I felt it was my duty to share with the PoP community the “new construction” on my block. “New construction” as it literally was just the front facade of a house. Many of us on the block were eager to have the blight of the block disappear, however now I miss the 4 foot high weeds.”

“Dear PoPville,

Our car was stolen overnight on Monday in Truxton Circle. It was parked on the street right outside our house, last seen when taking the trash out around 10PM, and when we came out on Tuesday morning it had vanished. No broken glass or damage to the cars parked in front of and behind it, which were still in the exact same position. Definitely our first time dealing with this, though we’ve always assumed that on a relatively transitional street, at some point we’d find ourselves dealing with neighborhood crime in one form or another.

Any advice from the community of folks who’ve also gone through this on how to deal with it – besides the obvious (already filed) police report – would be much appreciated… It sort of feels helpless to just wait it out. Also curious to know if there’s been a recent uptick in car theft in the area, or if we were just unlucky?”

“You guys see the collapse at 117 NY Ave yet? The ever-popular Taja Construction pulled the foundation out.

This after months of Taja breaking regs, us calling the cops, us telling him this exact thing would happen.”

From @DDOTDC:

“117 NY Ave, one floor collapsed in building. NY Ave west at North Capitol.”

“6:04 AM – @DCPoliceDept @DC_HSEMA – All lanes open at NY Ave Westbound at North Capitol. Heavy traffic remains.”
