Known for the many famous visitors, this is the only true Maryland Style Crabhouse in Washington DC.

Come see the new The Dancing Crab space! We moved just next door!”

You can see their menu here. Anyone try out the new space?

Whenever I walk into Pete’s in Columbia Heights, no matter the time, I see folks focused on the food rather than their dining companions. I think this is a good indication that the pizza is pretty tasty. So it is no surprise that pizza this good can’t be contained to one neighborhood. From a press release:

Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza is pleased to announce the opening of its 3,400-square-foot store at 4940 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, between the Tenleytown and Friendship Heights neighborhoods of northwest DC on Wednesday June 16.

All of Pete’s made-to-order dishes – from pizza and fresh pasta to salads and desserts – are made with natural and locally sourced ingredients. Beef and pork are sourced in whole cuts from a co-op of regional livestock producers, and ground in-house daily to make the ground beef and sausage. All meat, including chicken, comes from naturally raised animals. Dairy products are from local farms from Frederick, MD, to Lancaster, PA. Some in-season produce is sourced from area farmers’ markets.

The new restaurant seats approximately 100 customers, features a separate area for take-out and delivery orders, and includes additional outdoor seating on a large corner terrace from spring to late fall. Like the first location, the new Pete’s will also offer Italian wines, American craft beers, all-natural soft drinks from Boylan Bottling Co., natural fruit juices, and bottled water.”

“Dear PoP,

I think this is worth debate. The city is spending 400 thousand dollars on a dog park going into a wealthy garden community in upper NW. McLean Gardens. Now I can see the city building dog parks in our dense inner city areas with few green places to walk dogs even on a leash, but there are ample places to do so in Mclean Gardens. But what really raises my brow is that at a time when the District claims to be struggling to come up with money for funding safety net programs they are spending 400 THOUSAND dollars on a dog park. Does it really cost 400k for a dog park? I could bulldoze my house and build a new one for 400k. If the residents really want their dogs to be able to run off leash can’t they just put up a chain link fence for 10k and call it a day? Isn’t that what the city did for a dog park in Adams Morgans’ Walter Peirce Park? And in addition to the 400k the city is spending the neighborhood raised 25k for amenities to add to the park after the citys investment. Will there be a pool and sauna? Does the city make public the break down for the costs associated with a project like this? I think we are getting ripped off. I’m picturing the invoice charging us 5000 dollars for a box of nails. and 30,000 dollars for a trash can sort of thing. Is this another no bid contract? I have an uncle that would gladly bid 50k to build McLean Gardens a sweet Dog Park.”

WTOP says:

“The 11,000-square-foot park will be located off Wisconsin Avenue at 39th and Newark Streets in Northwest.

The District is spending more than $400,000 on the park, and residents raised another $25,000 to pay for amenities, such as park benches.

The park is scheduled to open in August.”

From an email:

“The Vinyl District has assisted in putting together a Fort Reno benefit on 4/17, Record Store Day, with all proceeds going toward the 2010 season.”

This is a reader request and I can see why. What’s your favorite room? I think I’m digging the dining room most. It’s yours for $2,495,000.

This one reminds me a little bit of the one from 13th Street in Columbia Heights in that it has a bit of a European look to it. I also like the contrast here of the old Church with the Marvelous Market sign. This from just off Wisconsin Ave near the Best Buy in Tenleytown.

Matisse is located at 4934 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. I don’t get up to this location too often but I was really intrigued by the responses from the nearby Le Chat Noir restaurant. Matisse seems like it has similar potential if a bit higher end. You can see their menus here. It kinda blends into the block so it’s easy to walk by without even knowing it’s there. Is this a (sorta) hidden gem?

Murphy’s Law recently opened up at 4624 Wisconsin Ave. NW near one of my favorite breakfast spots (Morty’s formerly Krupin’s). Has anyone checked them out yet? How do they rank in terms of Irish Bars in the city? We talked about some of the best Irish bars in the city here.

You guys haven’t been stumped yet this week. Ever actually. So this is located on a huge piece of land not terribly far from Tenleytown. Here’s the corner where I took the photo:

Was this a former military testing ground or something like that?
