From the DC Office of the Attorney General:

“Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced that Urban Athletic Club, a District gym chain, has agreed to comply with emergency COVID-19 health and safety requirements. The interim agreement comes after the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) filed suit against the chain for noncompliance at its Shaw location, following an OAG investigation. In its lawsuit, OAG alleged that Urban Athletic endangered District residents by allowing customers to exercise at its Shaw location without masks, adequate distancing, or proper equipment sanitization. After OAG filed suit, the company immediately entered into an interim agreement requiring compliance with Mayor Muriel Bowser’s COVID-19 public health emergency orders, pending trial or other final resolution of the case.”

From Urban Athletic Club:

“Since opening over seven years ago, Urban Athletic Club has repeatedly promoted health and fitness as the foundation to a long and prosperous life. We have offered free community classes and free trials, we have made countless donations of time and money to local charities, and we have grown from one location to four due to our commitment to our members.

Like the Attorney General, we believe the health and safety of our community is of paramount importance and have voluntarily affirmed to the Attorney General that we intend to comply with the Mayor’s coronavirus orders, as has always been our intent.

From La Jambe:

“We have made the very difficult decision to put on pause our Shaw location and do like lots of other restaurants, hibernating for a few months.

We have made it this far thanks to your continuous support but unfortunately between the higher risk of infection, the colder weather, and new restrictions in place, it is becoming almost impossible for us to stay open at this point.

We will keep our Shaw location open until Sunday, December 20th, so you can stop by, say goodbye and support our lovely team. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I saw a Vespa wipe-out in front of the new Whole Foods on Florida Ave NW because of a major slick of water that is omnipresent in the road. Thankfully the Vespa driver was OK and did not sustain any injuries. Since at least July when Whole Foods opened, water has gently seeped onto the street from a manhole in the middle of Florida Ave, just north of W Street NW. (more…)

Ivy and Coney Pauses In-House Dining, Continues Pickup and Delivery

Ivy and Coney, DC’s home for tube meat sandwiches and baseball, will be pausing in-house dining for the foreseeable future. We will be serving up dogs and pouring Malort on the deck through this Sunday, December 6th. While the deck is closed, pickup and delivery through DC To-GoGo will continue Thursday to Sunday. So don’t worry, you’ll still be able to get your hot dog and Detroit pizza fix. On top of that, we hope to get a fun market for people to shop online for a variety of local products up and running in time for the holidays (stay tuned!)

No matter what happens, we want to assure folks that Ivy and Coney is not going anywhere. (more…)
