Looks like Dino’s Grotto is getting real close to opening on 9th Street in the former Portico space south of U Street. They wrote on their Facebook page on April 22nd:

“We have our POS up and running. Bringing out all our plates & glasses to be washed. Would be nice if we found the silverware or maybe we will just serve finger food! One inspection tomorrow.”

Gotta be any day now:

From an email:

“Wednesday 4/23 we are celebrating the 100 Year Anniversary of Wrigley Field at Ivy and Coney by showing the game (2:20 est) and giving away a Free Chicago Dog & Old Style Beer to everyone who comes by between Noon – 7pm and shows an Illinois Drivers License! We want to give a little something back to our homesick Cub’s fans in DC!”

Ed. Note: Much love to my Chicago cousins but – go Nats!!! and Wizards too!

Back in Dec. 2013 we first learned a new pub called Lost and Found would be coming to 9th Street by the Convention Center from the folks behind Nanny O’Brien’s, Iron Horse Taproom and others. They recently applied for a liquor license which says:

“New Tavern with heavy snacks and recorded music. Occupancy load is 99.”

Hours are listed as Sunday 10 am – 2 am, Monday through Thursday 8 am – 2 am, Friday and Saturday, 8 am – 3 am. Updates as they get closer to opening.

They’ll be located just south of N Street and the new Colonel building.

From the Shaw listserv:

“Last Wednesday a pair of students were unloading a UHaul truck of stuff for Bread for the City and had their backpack stolen. I found the passport and a text book. He lost his laptop and some other textbooks. If you find any books about the Nazis in the area of Marion St please let me know. They are library books and he would really appreciate getting them back.”
