Another potentially awesome find from ‏@WashBizNeibs:

“An LLC called “Tipsy Peacock” was registered on Valentine’s Day to 2915 Georgia Ave. NW. My curiosity is piqued.”

Though no info is available – Tipsy Peacock does have a website set up:

Tipsy Peacock will be located right next to Bravo Lounge at the corner of Georgia and Columbia Rd, NW. The property was a Good Deal or Not? post back in 2008. At that time the asking price was $549,999. More info on this phenomenally named new spot when it becomes available.

Looks like Koffee’s Lounge located above the Salt and Pepper Grill Indian and Pakistani restaurant is going to become Peace Lounge. A recent liquor license application says:

“Neighborhood lounge offering Ethio-American style cuisine with a seating capacity for 86 patrons. Total occupancy load of 99. The following endorsements summer garden with 13 seats and entertainment to include dancing and cover charge featuring occasional acoustics jazz band, karaoke, open mic and DJ.”

Updates when they get closer to opening.

From Council Member Jim Graham:

“On this day of blizzard, I must inform you of the death of two persons in an apt at 710 Girard NW. The bodies of the male and female (both about 30 years of age) were found late last night.

Neither of them lived in the apartment, and both had addresses outside of Ward 1.

MPD is suggesting it may be drug related, and there may also be a suggestion of an execution style killing. None of that is confirmed.

The male victim has been identified but the name is not being released because the family has not been notified.

More as information is provided.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a double homicide which occurred in the 700 block of Girard Street, Northwest.

On Monday, January 20, 2014, at approximately 10:56 pm, police officers from the Third District responded to a call for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they located an adult male and an adult female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene. Neither victim exhibited any signs consistent with life. Both decedents were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed.

The male victim has been identified as 36-year-old Oluremi Thomas of Northwest, DC. The female victim has been identified as 24-year-old Keyonna Proctor of Southeast, DC.”

“Dear PoPville,

After wandering in, this place is better on the inside than outside. Happy hour specials (until 9pm) are amazing at buy one get one and even a shot, beer and hot dog for $6. While they are still updating on the exterior, the interior is well renovated with original tin ceilings and actually nice bathrooms.

It would be great for a place like this to do well in this neighborhood.

Yay Bravo Lounge on Georgia!”

“Deonte Bryant and Terrance Bush, two of the three men accused in the fatal shooting at the Carribean festival in Northwest DC in 2011, were found guilty late Friday afternoon of all charges against them including first-degree murder and assault.

The third man accused in the case, Terry Jimenez, pleaded guilty last April to second-degree murder while armed, assault with intent to kill, and aggravated assault knowingly while armed.”

They say sentencing is March 7 for Bryant and Bush and January 17 for Jimenez.
