A reader reports:

“Shooting on Quincy and Kansas Ave, NW. 4 shots – no fatalities. One of the two guys shooting at each other was shot (not sure where or how bad) but he also ran away. A bystander right next to them – like 6 feet from the shooting – got terrified and had a meltdown – called the cops who are in scene now.”

Updates when more is known/released from MPD.

A reader reports:

“I’ve reported this downed stop sign at 3rd and Shepherd NW to 311 twice over the past two weeks, once after I witnessed a near collision. The oncoming traffic does not stop. Seems there is no interest in repairing it. It’s now laying in the middle of the street. What’s a reasonable response time for fixing a downed stop sign. Seems like a real liability issue for DC.”

Ed. Note: I’m making sure DPW DDOT/311 sees this.

“I was in the middle of the crossfire with my 21 month old daughter at the time when this happened. We were driving to Walmart on Georgia I slowed down at the intersection of 5th and Kennedy to ensure no one was crossing the street. I heard gunshots and saw people ducking and running. I have never felt or seen anything like that before in my life.”

“I was home at the time with my 5 year old daughter who was too sick to go to school today. I heard the shots and immediately got her and myself on the ground. She couldn’t understand what was happening.”

“The fact that we have to explain to our kids that this just a normal thing is INSANE!! The police do walk the area, they do patrol Kennedy, this is not on them. There needs to be more done, and please lets not have another safety walk.”

Update: “This ‘Verizon’ gentleman tried to let himself into my home.” Check out the video.

“Dear PoPville,

Has anyone else encountered the the youngish looking guys in neon yellow shirts and vests stating they are from Verizon? Three came to my door, in what appeared to be scam. They said they had recently installed new cable in the area (doubt it) and wanted to let me know about new benefits. They continued to ask who my provider was and if I was happy with them.

When I said if you worked for Verizon you would know who provided my cable, they mumbled something about a mistake and were off to the next house. Given that it was three guys, I assumed they were running a “knock on the door and let themselves in” type of operation. What do you think real Verizon guys, or scam robbery in disguise?”

From Little Coco’s:

“Little Coco’s Restaurant announces the launch of APERITIVO HOUR, its modified version of the iconic Italian happy hour. Mondays through Thursdays from 5 – 7 pm, Aperitivo Hour is an all-inclusive, unlimited, food and drink offer for $23 per person.

Inspired by our pre-opening trip across Italy in 2015, the team at Little Cocos’ has been noodling over how to recreate the Italian love of pre-dinner apertifs and snacks. Based on the idea that digestifs/bitters such as Campari and Aperol combined with salty snacks whet one’s appetite for dinner, Aperitivo times are ubiquitous in Italy, from coast to coast, city-to-city, restaurant-to-restaurant.
