“The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in reference to a Burglary II incident which occurred in the 1200 block of Upshur Street, Northwest, on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at approximately 9:59 pm.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

“I was on the train traveling between the Columbia Heights and Petworth. The power went out and we had to walk through the tunnel to the Petworth station. The evacuation took about two hours.”

“As of 8am, Metrorail ridership is a bit LIGHTER than a typical weekday. Down ~14% vs same time last Wed. 109K trips taken so far. #wmata”

“My wife was on the train. Her take: “Firemen evacuated my Green Line train. Excellent response and handled better than I expected. Plus got to see metro’s guts” She says the train was about 700 feet from the platform (she saw a “700 ft to station” marker).”

“Power has been restored in the Metro stations which had been affected by a power outage. Yellow Line and Green Line service have now been fully restored.”

“GR/YL (1/2): Preliminary investigation: Problem appears to be related to a “remote terminal unit” that failed IAO Georgia Ave Sta. #wmata”

“GR/YL (2/2): RTUs allow ROCC to remotely control various systems, incl power. Personnel will remain on scene to ensure reliability #wmata”

“The construction at Georgia and Shepherd seems like it is finishing up. The condos have all been sold, according to the website. There are two or three storefronts that look like they will be opening up soon, but what is going in there? There are no signs up indicating what is opening.”

“Curious if you have any information on the gun shooting (8 shots heard by residents) at around 5 or 6 last night around 5th and Allison NW?”

MPD reply:

“There were sounds of gunshots and evidence of firearm discharge. We were able to stop a vehicle that fled the scene. One arrest was made and one firearm was recovered.”

Also of note from MPD:

“The Metropolitan Police Department announced the recovery of 18 illegal firearms overnight in the District of Columbia. Three of the handguns were recovered with high-capacity magazines.”
