YES Finally!! Thanks to Amanda for sending the good word on Bun DC‘s imminent opening:

“Bún DC is a family-owned restaurant serving authentic dishes from Sóc Trăng, Vietnam. Our recipes are inspired by memories of growing up and learning to cook in Southern Vietnam, and we are proud to share our culture with you at this quaint little restaurant in the nation’s capital.
Bún DC is the sister restaurant of Pho Viet–located at 3513 14th St NW, Washington, DC.”

“Dear PoPville,
I know the Bruce Monroe park used to have a dog run but now it seems they don’t even want pets on the grounds. Any reason for the change?”
Ed. Note: Also interesting to note the “no motorized vehicles” section. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that on a DPR sign before. You can also read about redevelopment plans for the park here.

A reader passes on a message sent to the Ward 1 and Ward 4 council members:
“In these incidents, an illegal “bomb” firework was lobbed directly at the front porches of two Petworth/Park View residents, the first on July 18th in Ward 4, and the second on July 20th in Ward 1. Ed. Note: I heard the latter was in Park View.
In the first incident, the bomb squad was called out. A hole was blown straight through the porch.
In the the second incident, the porch was severely damaged–mangling an iron rail. In both cases, the residents were at home. (more…)

A reader reports from Georgia and Girard Street, NW around 8am though not clear when the shots fired actually occurred:
“5 cop cars. Street taped off, including a business across Georgia.”
Looks like at least 11 shell markings. Another reader reports:
“I heard about a dozen rounds fired overnight on the 700 block of Gresham Place. It’s currently closed as MPD is investigating.”

“Dear PoPville,
Hey can we revisit Top Spanish Cuisine in Park View? They appear to be open regular hours again w/ a happy hour as well. [“Top Spanish offers Spanish Food and Tapas, full bar. Daily Happy hour starting at 4:00 pm”] Went the other night because I’ve seen the lights on recently and it was great food, and the Mexican food is gone. It was tragically empty, though.”
We can and we shall. Check out their menu here.
