“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 500 block of Columbia Rd NW. An adult male has been transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Georgia and Newton Place, NW

Nicolas reported just before midnight: “no less than 20-25 LOUD gunshots in Park View. Pretty sure on Newton and Georgia.”

MPD reported: “4D is on the scene of a confirmed shooting in the 600 block of Newton Place, NW.”

Nick asks around 8:12am: “any idea what’s going on at the post office north of Howard on Georgia? Street is closed and there were about a dozen police/ambulance/fire trucks blocking the northbound side if the road”

“Devastated to see a “for rent” sign in what used to be Sweetpea’s Soul Food on Georgia Ave. Their sign has also been removed from the establishment. Do you know anything more? Last I communicated with them on Instagram a few months ago, they indicated just being temporarily closed.”

“On July 28, 2020, representatives from the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), DC Office of Planning (DCOP), and the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that identifies the process for redevelopment of an underutilized 80-acre parcel of land (Zone A) on the AFRH campus by a private developer.
