Thanks to all who messaged us about Rus Uz after our post about La Perla closing.
Rus Uz’s website says:
“Rus Uz an inspired blend of Russian and Uzbek cuisine. We have two locations in the Washington D.C. metro area.
Rus Uz has an electric dining area with influence from around the world. Take a moment away from your dining table to peruse the walls. We’ve collected artwork for many years, allowing you to enjoy these finds as you wait for your order. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Trying to figure out a bit of a mystery. The Florian on North Cap and Florida has a sign for an upcoming coffee shop, Cafe Aida. I can’t find anything about it online. There’s a Viennese chain called Aida but no evidence of affiliation. Build out sounds fancy (acoustic ceiling), New York address, but unclear what’s coming.” (more…)

Saks Off 5th opened here in 2016. Previously the space was home to, the legendary, ESPN Zone.
USA Today reported: “Saks Off 5th, the discount retailer of its sister store Saks Fifth Avenue, is closing nine stores across the United States.”
I stopped in to ask when and was told “sometime in January.”
Stay tuned.

From the good people at Small Planes Coffee (2400 T Street, NE):
“The government shut down + the generally tough times in D.C. as of late have got us feeling a little 🌀🦀😵💫 these days. We wanted to take a moment to show our appreciation for this wonderful community by doing a donation day for folks affected by the turmoil right now.
On Tuesday, 11/11, we’ll be opening our doors to the public at the roastery from 9am-4pm (or while supplies last) to giveaway bags o’ beans and freshly brewed drip coffee! Swing by 2400 T Street NE, WDC 20002.
We believe in the power of community & connection, and look forward to seeing you”

Thanks to Hannah for sending: “Pupatella on 18th and S closed.”
‘Thank you for the memories!
This location may be permanently closed, but not our connection to this amazing community.
Please visit us at one of our other locations.’
Prior to Pupatella this space was the longtime home to Rosemarys Thyme.
Updates when we learn who takes over the space.
