I’m tired of construction companies and DDOT running this city without consideration for residents. This Fort Meyer crew showed up and started digging enough to shake our houses at 7:52am. These signs aren’t even legal! Anyone else tired of dealing with construction? Can’t they finish a street before they start another one? I reported it to 311 and it will be investigated by June 9th.”

The District’s shortest race–0.826 of a mile, to be exact–returns on June 4th. Everyone’s invited to briefly book it for youth literacy at 826DC’s second Half-Half-Half-Half-Half Marathon, an offbeat fundraiser from a unique DC nonprofit.
826DC supports local students ages 6-18 with their writing skills and helps teachers inspire their students to write. The Half-Half-Half-Half-Half Marathon will help fund 826DC’s 100% free writing workshops, homework help, and publishing opportunities at their Columbia Heights writing center (which students enter through a not-so-secret secret door in 826DC’s magic shop storefront) and in learning spaces across the city. As we’ve discussed MANY times, not to overstate it but Rodman’s is the greatest store on the face of the earth. A better selection of beer, wine, hard candies, obscure desserts from Germany and Austria, pickles, tea etc. – you will not find. Also, you can get your watch battery changed in the lower level. I digress – the one hole in their shopping repertoire for absolutely everything has been liquor sales. (more…)
