Over the past few months, a woman driving a white Lexus mini-SUV has been harassing dog owners in Navy Yard and the Wharf. Both from her vehicle and on foot she has accused dog owners of underfeeding their dogs and even picked up a small dog while it was still leashed with the owner holding its leash and started walking toward her car with the dog. Most recently, after multiple attempts to get my attention while I tried to ignore her, she yelled from her vehicle “Excuse me, I work with dogs and you are underfeeding your dog”. (more…)

“Today, The Wharf, Washington, DC’s world-class waterfront neighborhood, in partnership with the Southwest Business Improvement District (SWBID) and the Italian-inspired culinary collective Officina, unveiled a large-scale, outdoor crochet art installation of US Vice President Kamala Harris in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The piece is the work of the LA-based, international “yarn bomber” and street artist London Kaye. Kaye has been commissioned for a myriad of art installations including murals in Times Square, a school bus wrap for The Gap and a takeover of Kelly Clarkson’s television show studio. This latest work featuring Vice President Harris is titled “I’m Speaking” and is her largest installation to date, spanning 40-feet in width and 20-feet in height. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We absolutely love the Waterfront area and the experience in living in this part of DC has been very positive, however we are having very serious issues with our condominium association. When we moved we were aware the building does a mandatory “water shut-off” in weekdays once every 2 months, this lasts from 9am to about 3pm. We are ok with that, the majority of the time we’ve been at work and it has not affected us.

Fast forward to last year’s pandemic, for safety and health reasons these water shut-offs were temporarily cancelled (fine by us, we work from home now). However in these past few months, we have had multiple water shut-offs (more…)

“On 1/02/21 at approximately 2:55 pm, First District officers responded to the 200 block of K Street SW after hearing the sounds of gunshots. Once on the scene, officers found evidence that a gun had recently been fired. There are no reports of injuries at this time. (more…)
