“Someone’s was just shot on 11th and K SE. outside Potomac Gardens. It’s a serious situation with massive police response.”

From MPD:

“Alert: MPD is on the scene of a shooting in the 1100 block of K Street SE”

“On 1/23/19 at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers from the First District responded to the 1100 block of K Street SE for a report of a shooting. On scene, officers located a juvenile male who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment. At this time, there is no description of the suspect[s].

The case is being actively investigated by First District Detectives. Investigators can be reached at (202) 299-2025, should you have any information about the incident. Alternatively, information can be forwarded to investigators by contacting the Metropolitan Police Department’s Command Information Center at (202) 727-9099.”

“MPD Says a mountain bike officer was hit by a vehicle. The officer has minor injuries. The striking vehicle remained at the scene”

“Earlier tonight officers responded to a call for sounds of gunshots in the area of the 600 block of Orleans PL NE. Units canvassed the area and learned that a round had passed through a window of a residence in the 1100 block of 6th St NE. No injuries were reported. Anyone with any information regarding this offense are urged to contact MPD at 202-727-9099 or via text at 50411.”

55 M Street, NE

Yesterday we learned about Union Kitchen Grocery’s opening date in Shaw and now we got some action in NoMa – Streets Market soft opens today. And it is huge. I went to a preview party for the residents of the building above the store on Wednesday night and it’s pretty dope.

In addition to a huge grocery store (more photos below) there is a also a huge bar with tvs and 2nd floor seating.

hahaha Oh My God this is great. Over the weekend I noted that, man, if you haven’t been around the Union Market/Near North East area in a bit, it’s tough to wrap your head around it. I suppose that sentiment could apply to many areas in D.C. but the contrasts are especially vivid here. Tim replied with the following youtube clip which is blowing my mind. For those not familiar with Spies Like Us – 1. it is awesome and 2. it was released in 1985.

Bach’s complete cello suites live from the National Cathedral, presented by Washington Performing Arts in memory of Isaac Stern.

For more than 20 years, Norway has presented a Christmas tree to the people of Washington, in recognition of its strong friendship with the United States and in gratitude for America’s assistance during and after World War II. This year’s Christmas tree is made possible by Equinor, Kongsberg Gruppen, Nammo Inc., Innovation Norway, and Insitu Inc.
