“Pet parents in the NoMa / H Street / Capital Hill area, please be aware that there is a woman stealing dogs from outside businesses.

She stole a dog on Saturday, May 21 from the Giant at H and 3rd NE, then attempted to take another dog from the Union Kitchen on F and 3rd NE on Monday, May 23, only hours after the first dog was taken back from her. (more…)



North Capitol and M Street, NE

Update from MPD: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the 1200 block of N. Capitol Street NW. Lookout for dark grey/slate blue 4 door sedan with heavy tint and dark rims.”

Readers started reporting at 5:44pm: “what just sounded like a big gun fire fight in NOMA just now. North Cap and M was where I heard it from.”

“Just heard it too – people (including young kids) running down first st NE to take cover”

“I’m right across the street, at least 10 gunshots, maybe 15, people running everywhere. Tons of Cop cars and at least one ambulance on the scene now.”

“Just heard around 20 gunshots outside my building in Noma, and now I’m seeing a massive police presence outside.”

“Can confirm, walked out of my apartment building and heard multiple shots.”

“The Fifth District is experiencing a sharp increase of motor vehicle thefts, particularly in NoMa between North Capitol and First ST NE, and New York Ave and M ST NE, and in the Union Market area.
