I would like to try to let a woman know that myself and my husband are willing to be witnesses for her if she wishes to press charges against her assailant. We attempted to intervene and called 911 when we witnessed her being assaulted on the street at 7th and M tonight [Tuesday 7:30pm]. I thought she was being robbed but when I stopped and honked to try to scare him off and he went back to choking her and holding her against a vehicle it became more apparent they knew each other or were in a relationship. I really would like to help her if possible.”

Update from MPD:
“MPD is aware of the graffiti that has proliferated over the last several days. We are working to document it all, and coordinating with the Department of Public Works on its removal once we have taken a report and pictures.
If the public sees anti-Semitic graffiti regarding war with Russia, we ask that they look to see if it has also been marked “MPD CCN.” If it has, MPD has taken a report and it is on DPW’s list for clean-up, and there is no need to place a call. If it does not say “MPD CCN” on it, please call 311 to report the graffiti, noting the exact location, and, if available, any information about when the location was defaced.”
Sadly. A reader sends from the Convention Center this morning. Another reader notes: “Saw this at 9th and K NW this morning. My coworker said she also saw it at 5th and H NW. Neither were there yesterday. I reported to 311.”

The following was written by PoPville contributor David McAuley, founder of Short Articles about Long Meetings.
It is not clear who will build the planned “235 key” hotel with a rooftop bar at K and Sixth Streets NW. The design is only in its earliest stages. No hotel group has been chosen to run the hotel once it is built. Neither the bar or the hotel has a name. The penthouse bar may be run by the proprietors of the hotel, or may be operated by a third party.
But the penthouse bar that may appear someday above Mount Vernon Square already has closing hours – midnight weekdays, 2 a.m. weekends – endorsed unanimously by Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 6E/Shaw at its last regularly-scheduled meeting on November 7.
“It’s a little unusual in setting particular usage terms before an operator is even selected,” said Commissioner Alex Marriott (district 05). The planned hotel will be in Marriott’s district. (more…)
