Thanks to Trav for the heads up: “All boxed up. Doors locked with all the signs off.” Filson’s website says:

“This spring, we’ll be moving into our new home in the Shinola Building (14th and R St, NW). Our new space will be twice the size so we’ll have more room to better serve our customers.

Our last day of business at the current location will be Sunday, December 24. In the meantime, you can shop Filson.com for your outdoor needs, and as always, shipping is free on all orders.”

Filson first came to Logan Circle in 2015 when sister store, Shinola, moved to 14th and R. Updates when we learn what becomes of this space.

Last week we learned that Hit Item was going out of business. Last day was Saturday and that is what drove me to eat pumpkin pie potato chips. Don’t judge.

And on a serious note – when I stopped by to clean them out of waffle shirts, almost every single patron who purchased something thanked the owners and told them how sad they were. What was even sadder was how resigned some sounded…

Updates when we learn who takes over the space.

Back in October of last year we posted some scuttlebutt about two new Hilton brothers bars coming to Logan Circle – French 75 and Player’s Club. Ed. Note: I believe the latter is pronounced Play-ahs Cloo-b. The liquor licenses have now been posted – Player’s Club will be going into the Lower Level:

“A new neighborhood pool hall. Seating capacity of 90 inside. Total Occupancy Load of 275. The Tavern will include Entertainment Endorsement and Cover Charge.”

And upstairs will be French 75:

A new craft cocktail lounge with two floors and an outdoor rooftop Summer Garden. Seating for 85 indoors on the 2nd floor, seating for 10 indoors on the 7th floor, and seating for 80 in the rooftop Summer Garden. Total Occupancy Load indoors on the 2nd floor is 290. Total Occupancy Load indoors on the 7th floor is 30. Total Occupancy Load outdoors on the rooftop Summer Garden is 110. The Tavern will include an Entertainment Endorsement with Cover Charge.”

Eric and Ian Hilton are also behind Marvin, Gibson, Brixton, Chez Billy Sud, American Ice Company, Satellite Room, Crimson (the new whiskey bar in Chinatown), El Rey, Ten Tigers Parlour, Bar Roubaix (th new bicycle bar coming to old Acre 121) and more coming.
