Two businesses shut down for illegal cannabis sales in Logan Circle and Petworth

“On September 19, 2025, the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA) and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) shut down two businesses for illegal cannabis sales.

The Closure Orders were executed at 70 Smoke Shop and Tobacco King, both unlicensed retailers, due to activities that posed an imminent danger to public health and safety.

The operation was part of the city’s ongoing enforcement efforts following the enactment of the Medical Cannabis Conditional License and Unlicensed Establishment Closure Clarification Emergency Amendment Act of 2024, which granted ABCA new civil enforcement powers. Since the bill took effect on July 15, 2024, joint agency efforts have resulted in the padlocking of 75 illegal cannabis businesses.

It’s Official: 54 Noodles Bar For Lease. Fin.

So much for “temporarily closed”…

Thanks to Nate for sending the final word: the 54 Noodles Bar space is now officially for lease. Yesterday we noted that things were not looking good. Today it’s official.

54 Noodles Bar only opened here in April 2024.

Stay tuned for updates when we learn who takes over the space.

“Hit & Run in Logan Circle this morning” Looking for Witnesses

A friend was walking from his home in Logan Circle this morning at around 7:30 am. He was on the North side on Vermont walking toward the circle when he was hit by a vehicle. He flipped over the hood of the car and was thrown to the ground. The car (driver) that hit him did not stop. (more…)
