I think the reader is referring to the paint choices and decorating. It definitely has a consistent style. Do you dig it? This 3 bed/1.5 bath is going for $820,000.

The owner writes:

“We *really* love the house, but we need more space and are planning to buy a larger house with an in-law suite with my (retired) dad…we’re in the process of trying to work out a deal on an old GDON (from this past summer) in Columbia Heights (we bought our current house in 2001…since then, it seems we’ve been priced out of Logan and will be moving uptown a bit).”

Well that is a good looking house. What do you guys think of the house? Does $799,900 sounds reasonable?

Here’s another pretty open condo. It looks like it gets great light. What do you think of the condo itself? It’s yours for $1,159,000. It’s been on the market for 250 days so perhaps the price still needs to come down?

Almost exactly a year ago we looked at the building next door.

A couple of weeks ago I said that a Crepes Place was coming to 1736 14th Street, NW in the old Circle Boutique spot. Well I was close, it turns out Point Chaud Cafe & Crepes will be opening up there. I’m not sure if they’re affiliated with Crepes-a-Go-Go but it sounds awesome! And if that weren’t good enough another Crepes spot, Crepes on the Corner, is coming to the corner of 14th and S in the old Garden District space.

According to the Crepes on the Corner Web site:

“Coming to DC December 2009, owners Chef Vincent Bradberry and Joe Carmack of Garden District bring a simple and genuine crêperie to 14th Street, NW. Both are long time Mid-City business guys with a mindset to use local ingredients and produce.

Expect delicious crpes made fresh to order, homemade soups, salads, and a great cup of coffee. This is the place to get a healthy quick bite for lunch, an after dinner dessert crepe, and to stop by as the bars close.”

What are the odds of two crepes spots opening so close to each other?

The Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema has the scoop:

“The owner of the wine-themed Proof in Penn Quarter has signed a lease for a second restaurant in Logan Circle. Estadio is its name, and Spanish will be its game.”

This is in the spot where the Garden District formerly sold its indoor plants. I’m very much looking forward to following the progress on this place. Stay tuned…

This is a huge spot located at 1337 14th Street, NW (which used to be the old Dakota Cowgirl space). It is actually two concepts. Downstairs is the more restaurant focused Birch & Barley and upstairs is the beer focused Church Key (though there are also dining options for the upstairs space). I was able to take some preview photos on Wed. and the place is looking good – it finally opens to the public on Thursday. Be sure to let me know what you think. For the beer lovers, you will have lots and lots of options (500 bottles, 50 drafts, and 5 casks).

Downstairs:

Lots more photos after the jump. (more…)

I really like this section of S Street. What do you think of the house itself? How important is a big back yard to you? Does $821,500 sound reasonable for this 3 bed/2 bath?

Ever since Circle Boutique closed their doors at 1736 14th Street, NW I’ve been wondering what may go into that spot. Now keep in mind, whenever I use scuttlebutt in the title, it is just that, scuttlebutt. Rumor. Hearsay.  I did hear it from a very reliable source but I don’t believe anything is in stone at the moment.

Nevertheless, I’m pretty excited about this possibility. I’m hearing that Crepes-a-Go-Go may open up another location at this spot. They currently have a store at 2122 P Street, NW. You can see their menu here. Any fans? Think a crepe spot will work for this location on 14th near Logan Circle?

Well, I thought the whole row house was for sale but this condo looks amazing. Sorry to dissapoint that, not surprisingly, it is already under contract. But I still think it’s worth taking a look at because I’m curious what you think of the price. And the condo itself of course. This section of Vermont Ave. is one of my favorite blocks in DC. So do you think the asking price of $323,600 was reasonable for this 1 bed/1 bath?

For those that missed this from the Rant or Revel section a reader wrote:

“Just saw a bodybag [presumably with a corpse inside] being brought out of that strange white brick building at the corner of 14th & Corcoran [northwest corner]. Anyone know what’s up?”

As others have noted the blog Borderstan had the scoop:

“The location of the death is the upstairs unit of 1618 14th Street, at the northwest corner of 14th and Corcoran Streets NW. According to published reports (MetroWeekly) and numerous online reviews, the building houses a sex club for gay and bisexual men. The club last made news when it experienced a fire in June of 2005.”

I guess I’m a bit naive as well. Are sex clubs legal? Anyway, I walked by this afternoon and there was a cop car sitting out front and police tape still covered the doorways.
