“Dear PoPville,

Your site has reported previously on possible incidents of banking cards being compromised at the Giant on H Street NE. I fear that I may be their latest victim. In the last week both my debit card and credit card have been used fraudulently, but the actual cards never left my possession. I live three blocks away from the Giant and it is the only place I can think of where I would have used both cards.

Curious to know if anyone else has had this same experience recently or if Giant has commented further on these concerns. It is extremely frustrating!”

“The Feldman Group of Marcus & Millichap announced today the sale of 1338 H Street NE along the H Street Corridor of Washington, D.C. The 1,656-SF asset sold for $835,000.

Josh Feldman, First Vice President of Investments, and Ian Ruel, Investment Associate, of the Feldman Group closed the off-market transaction. The property was purchased by The 11th Property Group, which plans to develop the asset into a mixed-use project. The previous owner operated a barbershop at the property since 1999. “This sale proves that for developers looking for projects along H Street NE, there are still opportunities as long-term owner/operators move on to the next phases of their lives,” explains Feldman.

The 11th Property Group had already closed on the property next door at the time of the sale. The Feldman Group was able to facilitate the acquisition of 1338 H Street NE so that they could increase the size of their project.”

Cars with out of state license plates are getting their tires slashed on K St. NE–

Both my roommate (who has a Louisiana tag) and myself (Mississippi tag) got our passenger side tires slashed last night [Saturday]. When she took her car over to the tire shop on Florida Ave (Mac’s) he told her that at least 10 other folks who live on K street had been in to get their tires fixed this morning, all out of state. Police said it was everyone (including DC tags) but all the DC tags were fine on my block and I only saw out of state tags at the tire store. Just FYI. “

Metro Mutts closing retail operations on H Street Location May 14th

Ed. Note: Metro Mutts closed their Barracks Row location back in April ’16. Around that time we also spoke about fears that Metro Mutts on H Street could be in trouble when Petco arrives.

“With a mixture of sadness, appreciation, and excitement for the future of Metro Mutts…

We are writing to let you know that Metro Mutts will be closing the retail store on H St on May 14, 2017, and putting 100% of our energy into Metro Mutts Pet Services – dog walking and cat sitting.

We have been through a lot in these 7 years. We have seen many of our customers arrive in the neighborhood and seen just as many move away. We have said goodbye to many fur babies in the neighborhood as they pass over the rainbow bridge, including our own store beauties and dear friends Meeko and Jenny.

We also saw the ENTIRE construction of the Trolley line built along H ST NE. Boy, that was messy. We have seen many businesses come and some go. It sure has been a roller coaster ride and we want to thank each and every one of you for your patronage and support over the years. For without you, we couldn’t have made it this far!

Despite the great outpouring of support that so many of you have shown since we opened in 2010, and especially over the last year, increasingly steep retail competition along H St and a lease that is up for renewal this year finally led us to this decision. (more…)
