“Dear PoPville,

I found this curious and thought you might too. The pic is of an envelope taped to Sticky Rice’s door on H St. NE that says “Confidential for Owner.” The same envelope was taped to the doors of most businesses this morning between 13th and 10th (and maybe more but those were the streets I walked between).”

What do you guys think, some sorta marketing thing? Or the key to the collusion?

Marie asks:

“I’ve been noticing a crazy amount of intense roadrage incidents over the last few months in the H Street area, both driver vs. driver and bicycle vs. driver.

I honked my horn at a Toyota who cut me off. Another car pulled up next to me, opened his window, and attempted to punch my car for honking at him. I think he assumed I was honking at him – he called me a “dumbass.” I laughed, he got more angry. Anyway, I’ve had more weird/aggressive interactions with drivers in the last 3 months than I have my entire memory of driving and being a passenger in DC.

Anyone else?”

“Dear PoPville,

There’s an apt in my building up for $1798 today, which is insane for a near-union station 800 square foot apartment (201 I Street, NE). I know rents here are volatile and change all the time so hopefully it will still be that low by the time you see this message. Thank you!”

As of 11:40am it was listed at $1747 (screenshot above.) Here’s the floor plan:

Driftwood Kitchen opened in the former TruOrleans space back in October 2014.

“A cedar tree falls into the Mediterranean, travels through the Atlantic, and finally arrives in Washington DC. This is the fundamental concept of Driftwood Kitchen, located in the heart of the bustling H Street Corridor.

With a focus on Modern American food, Driftwood Kitchen borrows from the many different flavor profiles of the culinary traditions based throughout the Mediterranean.”

Updates when we learn what becomes of the space. Thanks to Lauren for sending.
