“As part of IKEA’s ongoing transformation to better meet the evolving needs of its customers, the company is moving its planning location in Arlington to a new, more accessible location in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. IKEA in Georgetown will open on November 5, located at 3307 M, Street. NW. Washington, DC 20007. Meanwhile, The IKEA Arlington Plan and order point will remain open for planning appointments and pick up until it closes on November 30, 2025.

This decision supports IKEA’s broader strategy to meet customers wherever and however they choose to shop—whether in-store, online, or through new and innovative formats. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m so torn on this one. Will I really miss it? Sort of. But every time I have walked by this space, either as the now-gone Starbucks, or as Capriotti’s sandwich shop before it, or that godawful Philly Pizza where students, tourists, high school drinkers, and young military types splashed ranch dressing on 2 a.m. slices before barfing them on the street, I have longed for something more in the spirit of (more…)


From DC Water:

“DC Water will begin construction this week to stabilize the slope on Canal Road NW between Foxhall Road (Glover-Archbold Trailhead) and the Georgetown University (GU) entrance. Temporary lane closures will be necessary during off-peak hours at times, and the sidewalk will be closed for the duration of the project. Work will begin on Saturday, September 20, 2025, and continue for approximately 6.5 months.

The slope stabilization will be performed in advance of the Potomac River Tunnel Project, a critical infrastructure effort to improve water quality in the Potomac River. Due to repeated landslides and falling rocks along the slope, (more…)
