Of course it’s one of the best happy hours in DC – from Sushi Taro:
“MONDAY – FRIDAY 5:30 – 7:00 only at the BAR.
Half price on regular sushi and all alcoholic drinks (excludes large bottles and mixed drinks)
As Washington D.C.’s premiere restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, Sushi Taro continues to educate people with our concept of serving genuine Japanese dishes along with superb selection of Sake and Sho-Chu.
This is a great opportunity for you to try some of our high-end sake or fulfill your curiosity about sho-chu.
Sushi Taro’s Happy Hour is one of the best and most valued deals in town, and we are often asked why we do not promote it. Sushi Taro’s bar has only 11 seats and we can’t accommodate such large crowds in such a short time.”

“Dear PoPville,
On Monday, my wife had a bike accident on the corner of 16th and R (no villain, just a bag of dry cleaning got caught in her front wheel). My wife is fine, she went over the handlebars, chipped her tooth and got a black eye and a mild concussion, but nothing was broken.
But I wanted to say a public thank you to Ariel, a fellow bike commuter who stopped and called me from my wife’s cell phone and stayed with her until I could come pick her up. Getting that phone call was a scary moment, and it means a lot to see people willing to take the time to help each other out. I didn’t get her information as we were hustling to the emergency room, but wanted say thank you to Ariel on behalf of my wife and I!”

“Someone spilled a drink; fists flew. Person called the cops and is pressing charges. Cops reviewed the security footage, saw management was present but no one called 911 to report. That’s what got them in hot water. Command’s response to me: “The Marrakech [2147 P Street, NW] was closed due to a patron being allegedly assaulted inside of the establishment.”

From a press release:
“The newly opened Ankara restaurant, a celebration of good food, hospitality and the heart of Turkey, will launch their new brunch on Saturday, June 13. Brunch will be a delicious celebration of the famous and beloved Turkish breakfast (kahvalti), traditionally one of the most important elements of Turkish cuisine. It will be served from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Brunch is available for $37 per person, plus tax and tip. It includes tea, a traditional Turkish breakfast accompaniment, and a choice of Mimosa, Bloody Mary or cranberry juice cocktail with house vodka or gin.
As experienced in breakfast salons and restaurants throughout Turkey, guests will start off with Van Kahvaltisi – a broad selection of small plates of savory and sweet items including bal (honey), peynir (cheeses), zeytin (olives), recel (fresh fruit jams), tomatoes, peppers and more to be shared with the table. Additionally, they can select items from a range of egg, salad and pide dishes as well as dessert.
